Tokyo to Nozawa Onsen by Public Transport
The journey from Tokyo Station to Iiyama Station (pronounced ‘e-yama’) takes approximately 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours on the Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet train, depending on the service. Reserved-seat fares are currently from approximately ¥8,690 per adult.
From Iiyama Station, take the direct Nozawa Onsen Liner bus to Nozawa Onsen Chuo Bus Terminal. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes and costs ¥600 per adult and ¥300 per child, one way. Tickets can be purchased from the vending machine at Iiyama Station, or Suica and other compatible IC cards can be used. Please note that IC cards cannot be used for multiple passengers with a single card. View the Nozawa Onsen Liner timetable for current bus and Shinkansen connections.
We provide a complimentary shuttle service from the Nozawa Onsen Chuo Bus Terminal. Please advise your arrival time 48 hours in advance so we can schedule in a vehicle to pick you up.
JR train tickets can be pre-purchased online through JR-EAST Train Reservation / Eki-net.
For the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Tokyo and Iiyama, you can use the Shinkansen e-ticket service, which allows you to travel without collecting a physical ticket by linking your reservation to a compatible IC card or Mobile Suica. Alternatively, you can purchase a physical ticket online and collect it from a JR ticket machine or ticket office at a suitable JR station.
Purchasing tickets on the day of travel is generally straightforward, but we recommend booking in advance during busy travel periods, particularly around New Year and other Japanese holiday periods, when trains can be busy and reserved seats may sell out. For your return journey, we strongly recommend purchasing your ticket in advance. Iiyama Station has no staffed ticket counter for this service, and there can be long queues at the ticket machines, particularly during busy travel periods.

Visit Nagano Snow Shuttle to book scheduled bus services from Narita or Haneda airports to Nozawa Onsen. Allow 6 hours travel time.

Narita Airport: 5.5 hours Tokyo: 4.5 hours Nagoya: 5 hours Osaka / Kyoto: 7 hours.
Please note that there is no parking available at The Ridge. If you are arriving by car, you may pull up in front of the main entrance to unload your luggage. Please ensure the vehicle is moved promptly after unloading.
The nearest overnight parking is #2 Karasawa Public Car Park, located nearby. Parking costs ¥1,500 for the first night and ¥1,000 for each consecutive night, payable in cash directly to the parking booth attendant. Overnight parking is not permitted in the SPArena car park opposite The Ridge.
